Recast is a local application. The short version: your recordings never leave your computer, and we do not know who you are unless you buy a license or email us.
What the app does not do
- It does not create an account, and there is no login.
- It does not upload recordings, screenshots, audio or filenames anywhere.
- It does not send analytics, crash reports or usage events.
- It does not phone home to validate a license — keys are verified offline by signature.
What stays on your machine
Recordings, projects, preview proxies and your license file are stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\RecastApp. Uninstalling the application does not delete them; you can remove that folder at any time.
Network access
The app contacts the network in exactly one situation: when you press Check for updates. That request sends the version of the app and nothing else. If you never press it, the app never connects.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. We receive your email address and order details, needed to issue a license and support you. We do not receive or store card details.
This website
The marketing site does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. Server logs (IP, user agent, requested page) are retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.
Your rights
Email support@demoforge.video to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires.
